Dr. Phil says Kanye West’s recent outbursts are a ploy for publicity.
While some have questioned the rapper’s mental health following his foul-mouthed rants on social media and his renewed feud with Taylor Swift, Dr Phil believes Kanye knows exactly what he’s doing.
He told The Late Late Show host James Corden: ‘We’re talking about it, aren’t we? We are here talking about. He just gets up and says something, and so, here we are talking about it, so it’s working.’

Not a fan: Dr. Phil shared his thoughts on Kanye West while on James Corden’s late night show on Monday
‘You can’t be wrong that many times in a row unless you’re working at it,’ Dr. Phil said.
‘He just gets up, says something [mimics typing] and so here we are talking about it, so it’s working.’
Fellow guest Bow Wow came to West’s defense, adding: ‘He’s just an artist who’s very, very passionate, like over-passionate, in what he does.’
Dr. Phil said West’s Twitter outbursts reflect a wider tenancy for people to over-share on social media.
Seeking publicity: The talk show host suggested the rapper’s outburts are a way of getting attention
The talk show host explained: ‘Everybody thinks stuff sometimes; you’ll think of something really stupid, but we’re in a society now, we’re in a generation now, where everybody thinks you got to have an audience for everything.
‘Listen, I don’t need to know that you just brushed your teeth. And I don’t need a picture of it, I don’t need a film of it, but we’re so narcissistic now, everybody’s doing selfies of themselves brushing their teeth. I don’t care! But everybody’s gotta post it up … So now, you say something stupid, it just goes wall-to-wall. They’re reading it in China in five seconds, so it just goes all over the place. You used to be stupid and get away with it.’

Dr Phil’s comments come after Chelsea blasted Kanye as ‘a maniac’, saying: ‘He’s unstable and he’s delusional. And now he’ll have a mental breakdown in front of everybody, even though he’s been in this state for years.
‘I’ve always thought he’s a maniac, and he just sounds like more of one. He’s always been delusional.
‘He’s acted like this for years and now people are acting surprised that he’s acting like this.’
Referencing the beginning of Kanye’s feud with Taylor, where he interrupted her MTV VMAs acceptance speech in 2009 to declare Beyonce Knowles should have won Best Female Video, Chelsea added: ‘He did this to Taylor Swift five or six years ago. He went up and stole her award. And no one thought he was nuts then?’
