It’s not the first time Kat Moon has made waves with her fashion choices, but she has now got fans talking after wearing a top that is almost identical to one from a parallel scene 14 years ago.
Eagle-eyed fans of the BBC One show took to Twitter to point out the striking similarities in the wardrobe choice after seeing a trailer for the soap teasing the new storyline which sees her discover she has another son.
The short preview shows Sister Ruth – played by June Whitfield – telling actress Jessie Wallace’s character that she had a twin boy the same time as giving birth to daughter Zoe.

Sister Ruth breaks the news to Kat that she had a son the same time as daughter Zoe – as the character wears a near identical outfit to that seen in explosive scenes in 2001 when Zoe found out she was Kat’s daughter
Spot the difference? Kat Slater wears a very similar outfit in the 2001 episode in which she tells Zoe that she is her real mother. The father was Uncle Harry, who abused Kat as a child
Twitter user Jessie @sugganiston got other EastEnders fans talking about the striking similarities in the outfits after seeing the trailer
Kat Moon, née Slater, is then scene furiously banging on a door, yelling: ‘You took my son’.
One dedicated viewer quickly noticed that the vibrant red and black blouse she was wearing was near identical to that worn in the iconic 2001 scene in which she revealed she was not Zoe Slater’s sister, but her mother.
The father was Uncle Harry, who had sexually abused Kat.
The scene – which saw Zoe mutter the immortal words: ‘You ain’t my mother!’ to which Kat replied: ‘Yes I am’ – was named the greatest soap storyline of all time following a poll of 2,000 soap fans last year.
But, as the storyline now enters a new phase – it seems Kat’s fashion sense hasn’t.
The colour and print of the top in both scenes is pretty much identical but for slits in the shoulders of the 2001 version and buttons down the front of the most recent design.
But she has updated the look with a pair of leather-look trousers and a long necklace.
Superfan Jessie tweeting as @sugganiston was the first to point out the wardrobe déjà vu.
Twitter user Gaz suggested Kat should get herself down to Westfield, while others were blown away by the similarities in her outfits
A fan on Twitter posted a picture of the famous 2001 scene with a screenshot of the upcoming episode saying: ‘Do you think this was done on purpose or is it just me?’
The fan was quickly met with reaction from other stunned viewers, some of whom questioned whether or not soap bosses had dusted out the same outfit on purpose.
Megan Davies, tweeting as megandavies2710, said: ‘Okay, it definitely has to be on purpose now and brilliantly thought [out].’
Meanwhile, a user called Gaz met the news with a more humorous post, although he got the date out by three years. He said: ‘Kat Moon has had the same wardrobe since 04. You live in east London. Hit Westfield Stratford man!’
Viewers learned of Kat’s twin son back in May after she visited the convent where she gave birth to Zoe and the nuns checked their records when she left – but the former landlady remained blissfully unaware.
In upcoming episodes, Kat makes the discovery through Sister Ruth and finds out that Zoe’s twin brother was taken away immediately – and that one of her family members has secretly known about her son and his whereabouts for 30 years.
It’s not long before a shell-shocked Kat is storming across Albert Square to Stacey’s house, where her grandmother Mo and dad Charlie have turned up and are staying, to demand answers.
Speculation over who Kat’s son might be has been rife for some months, with the hot favourite being that it is Sean Slater – Stacey’s brother and the son of Jean.
