A man who became frustrated when he could no longer fit into his clothes has lost two stone and gained a six pack in just 12 weeks by sticking to a 3,000 calorie a day diet.
At his heaviest, Michael Taylor, 24, from Newcastle upon Tyne, weighed 15st, had a 36-inch waist and had a body fat percentage of 25 per cent, eating junk food and takeaways.
However, after following an online programme focusing on his diet and exercise, Michael’s weight has dropped to 11st 4lbs, his body fat percentage is now 11 per cent and he has trimmed his waist size down to 30-31 inches.
Michael Taylor decided he wanted to lose weight when he was struggling to fit into his jeans, so he downloaded a fitness app and lost two stone in 12 weeks. Pictured: Michael in November (left) and in February (right)
Michael, who admits he used to eat about two takeaways a week and shunned going to the gym, spent three months sticking to the LDN Muscle Cutting Guide – a downloadable app that provides regimental exercise and nutritional advice.
He has now overhauled his diet – swapping crisps and chocolate for lean meats and protein shakes – and working out six days a week.
He said: ‘I always knew I was becoming more and more unfit but the defining moment for me was when I was trying to find an outfit to wear for a night out.
‘I had tried on almost every pair of jeans in my wardrobe and each pair had been just as tight as the last.
Through a combination of going to the gym and following the guide Michael (pictured before weight loss) has lost two stone in three months, now weighing 11st 4lbs
His body fat percentage is now 11 percent and he has trimmed his waist size down to 30-31 inches
‘I had got down to my last pair of jeans, which had always been a comfortable fit, and when I pulled them up I couldn’t get the top button done.
‘It was at this moment I realised things had gone too far and I simply had to do something about it. I was tired of wanting to wear certain clothes but not being able to because of how they fit or how they looked on my body.’
Michael says his diet allowed him to eat the tastiest food he ever has
Wanting to follow a structured plan to fit in with his work schedule, Michael was introduced to LDN Muscle by a work colleague.
The plan – over 12 or 20 weeks, promises to help people ‘shred fat and get lean’. The ‘cutting’ programme is suitable for those whose ‘abs aren’t visible’ and who have a higher body fat percentage.
Michael said: ‘At the beginning I focused mainly on the nutritional advice and they played a huge role in educating me and teaching me how to really enjoy a healthy, balanced diet. Once I started following on Instagram things slowly developed from there.’
Michael added that as he started to follow the new regime his way of eating changed dramatically from his former habits.
He swapped junk food and takeaways for protein and ‘clean’ eating – and now works out six days a week – getting up at 6am every day.
He added: ‘My typical diet before I started my transformation lacked any sort of structure and I would basically eat whatever I fancied at that time.
‘I would often be eating at least two takeaways a week.
‘My diet now is a lot more flexible and I actually find I eat tastier food then I ever have.
‘And it is amazing that I am eating 3,000 calories a day and losing weight. I train in the morning before I go to work and have been following the plan for the last 12 weeks.
‘The diet has not only transformed my body but also my mindset.
‘Having a clear routine allows for clear goals to be regularly set. I have found going to the gym at 6am each day to be hugely beneficial.’
Michael said that he now has more energy and even sleeps better, having completely changed his diet.
Where he would snack on cereal bars and junk food, he now eats lean chicken or steak, paired with veg for lunch and dinner, and protein shakes for breakfast.
He added: ‘I have a clearer understanding of nutrition and over time I have found my cravings for mainstream sugary foods and takeaways reduce to virtually non-existent.
‘To think where I have come in just 12 weeks is amazing and the lifestyle changes I have been encouraged me to make will remain for a lifetime.’
