It’s the photograph every bride wants to keep forever, but as these hilarious images of bare bottoms, puking brides and defecating dogs show, wedding portraits don’t always go as planned.
Photobombers, wardrobe malfunctions and unexpected animal appearances all feature in the collection of images released by the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP).
Each year the society holds quarterly competitions, celebrating a variety of the best images from couples’ special days in various categories, including humour.

Particularly baffling is the image of a groom wearing a snorkel poised on all-fours at his bride’s feet during the reception.
Animals also manage to create havoc in many an otherwise romantic photo.

He said: ‘I enjoy all of the humour entries for the chuckles they provide.
‘I especially love the ones that don’t immediately jump out at you as a humorous image until you look around the image and finally see it.
‘There are a combination of things that make a funny wedding photograph.
‘First of all, the photographer has to have a sense of humour to be in the right frame of mind to capture it.
‘Timing, of course, is essential to many of these images, as if the photographer waited just another moment the image would be lost.’

‘For example certain juxtapositions, or reflections, or interactions of people that many people would not notice as a funny image.
‘And, of course, animals – after all, who doesn’t like a funny dog picture, especially in the context of a wedding?’
Other categories in the ISPWP’s completions include the likes ‘Getting Ready,’ ‘First Dance,’ ‘Family Love,’ and a selection of portrait possibilities.
The ISPWP has been running quarterly contests since the summer of 2008 and receives thousands of entries for each category.
