Zendaya’s first commercial for CoverGirl debuted during the Grammys last night, and the 19-year-old beauty proved her beauty chops by squeezing three amazing make-up looks into the fun-filled 30-second spot.
The brand first announced that Zendaya would be the new face of the brand back in January, teasing a few photos and clips of her premiere TV ad.
‘CoverGirl celebrates powerful, beautiful, and strong women of different races and ethnicities. It’s inspiring,’ she told Teen Vogue. ‘I’m thrilled to be part of the diversity and expansion of beauty.’
Premiere: Zendaya’s first CoverGirl commercial debuted during the Grammy Awards on Monday night
Musical make-up: The 19-year-old is the newest face of the beauty brand — and also played her new song
Funky: She rocked three make-up looks, including this colorful, rave-ready style
The commercial kicks off with a spotlight on the girl of the moment, as she dances in a glitzy, fringed, flapper-inspired dress in low lighting.
‘I wanna try something new,’ she says, referencing the name of her new song Something New, which was also revealed in the ad. ‘New shades. New moves. New looks. New grooves.’
She goes on to show off three totally different beauty looks, dancing and goofing off while she models each.
For her first style, Zendaya wears her hair in an elegantly retro ‘do, curled and pinned close to her head. Her lips are painted a deep wine color and she looks girly in a sky blue dress.
Jus thaving fun: The star wasn’t afraid to goof off and make funny faces, even in elegant dresses
Diverse: Zendaya said she likes that the brand celebrates women of different races and ethnicities
You go, girls! She added that she finds the brand’s actions ‘inspiring’ and was excited to join the team
Next, she transforms into a sexy siren in a red dress and black lace gloves, worn over red-painted nails.
Her hair is styled in a high ponytail that would make Ariana Grande proud, and her make-up is dramatic with bold lashes, cat-eye liner, and a bright red pout.
Finally, the star poses like we’ve never seen her before — totally funky and bursting with color.
Her hair in twisted into three braided buns, colorful streaks brushed through her strands. Her nails are green and pink nails, which go perfectly with her multicolor fur coat and statement-making make-up.
Blue and lime green line her eyes, while her thick brows are painted a dark purple.
She’s the total package! Zendaya usually does her own make-up for red carpet events
Keeping ’em on fleek: She said that grooming her eyebrows is key to a killer look
Such a pro! She created her own Grammys make-up look, too, which she wore both at the award ceremony itself (left) and at an after party (right) and which featured all CoverGirl cosmetics
‘You sometimes assume that because makeup is sold at the drugstore, the pigment won’t be as opaque. But they have bomb colors. They even have some dope colors that I haven’t seen in higher-end brands. They’re especially great if you wet them,’ she told Teen Vogue when the partnership was announced.
Though Zendaya likely had a professional CoverGirl make-up artist styling her looks for the ad, the star is actually known to do her own beauty looks for the red carpet.
She even did her make-up for last night’s Grammys on her own, using CoverGirl’s TruNaked Eye Shadow Palette in Nude, Intensify Me! Liquid Liner in Intense Black, Plumpify Mascara, TruBlend blush and bronzer, and Colorlicious Oh Sugar! In Caramel.
‘I always finish any look by grooming my brows — it’s key!’ she told Us Weekly.
